LEICESTER have snapped up Victor Palovaara to ease their injury problems as a replacement for Josh Bates.
The former Glasgow star, recently released by Edinburgh as part of a double change, will link up with the Watling JCB Lions and be reunited with former team boss Stewart Dickson, subject to BSPA approval.
Dickson said: “I believe Victor will be a welcome addition to our team and I feel he will be suited to riding the Leicester track.
“I have worked with him before and his equipment is immaculate and he is a very capable rider.
“It’s also appropriate to mention Josh Bates, who proved so many doubters and experts wrong when he came back to race for us this year and increased his average by over a point.
“We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him again in Lions colours.”
Palovaara is delighted to have another chance in the SGB Championship and is excited to get started.
“I’m really happy to join Leicester, it should be a lot of fun,” the Swede said.
“It was a shame what happened at Edinburgh. I had a bit of a bad last meeting then me and Joel were released, but I’m happy to get another chance.
“It’s a good time for a change I think and a new team will be a nice challenge, so I’m really looking forward to getting going.”
